Premium Suite upgrade coming for Samsung Galaxy S III

| by Aaron Almeida | Smartphones

Samsung has recently announced that its flagship device, the Samsung Galaxy S III will be getting the brand’s Premium Suite upgrade pack that was previously announced for the Galaxy Note 10.1. Samsung has showcased what features will be available for the brand’s flagship device through a video.

According to Samsung, in the Premium Suite upgrade pack, the Galaxy S III will be kitted with features such as Page Buddy, Contextual Menu and Contextual Tag. Apart from this, the Galaxy S III will also receive enhanced features such as Multi Window, Auto Shot Pairing using NFC, Reader Mode and Facebook Lock Ticker.

Elaborating on these features Samsung states that in Page Buddy, the Galaxy S III will smartly predict what a user intends to do according to their actions. Explaining this feature Samsung states that when a user plugs in their earphones, the device automatically opens up a page with the music player.

In Contextual Menu, Samsung states that when a user lists up apps, they can now choose to see the most frequently used applications first. This can be convenient when a user is looking through apps to find files to attach.

In Contextual Tag, when a user takes a picture on their smartphone, they can tag the weather, date and place immediately.

In the enhanced features such as Multi Window, a user can open two different apps in two different Windows on the handset’s screen. The Auto Shot Pairing using NFC feature can be used to quickly share photos and videos using NFC by tapping the Galaxy S III with other NFC and S-Beam enabled devices. This can be done by setting the camera to Auto Share Shot.

In Reader Mode, a user can easily control the size of the text on your browser. They can just click the webpage to share it. In the Facebook Lock Ticker feature, Samsung claims that it is the easiest way to see Facebook News Feeds. This can be achieved by setting the phone to show it on the lock screen.

Samsung has recently begun rolling out a Jelly Bean update to the Galaxy S III in the form of Android 4.1.2. As of now, it appears that only Poland has received this update and it will be rolling out to the rest of the world soon.

Samsung has recently started rolling out the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update in India and it is available as an over-the-air update as well as through Samsung Kies software.

For those not in the know, Android 4.1 builds on top of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). This operating system is designed to make everything smoother, faster, and more fluid. Notifications are now more dynamic, allowing you to access and interact with the alert from the drop down menu itself without ever having to open the app. Another interesting feature is that voice typing is now faster, working even when one does not have a data connection. Google had also stated that it has re-designed search from the ground up in Jelly Bean with a new user interface and faster, more natural Voice Search. It went on to state that one can type one's query or simply ask Google a question. The voice search feature can speak back, delivering a precise answer powered by the Knowledge Graph, if it knows one, in addition to a list of search results.

If you’ve used any of Samsung’s flagships in the past, you’ll be right at home with the new S4. We quite liked the handset during our brief encounter with it a few weeks back and after using it for about a week, we have come to like it even more.
