Press image of the HTC One X makes its first appearance

| by Aaron Almeida | Smartphones

The Mobile World Congress event will take place in a few short days and the most leaks have come from HTC’s camp. Even Sony have managed to keep their products more a secret as compared to the Taiwanese manufacturer. We have heard about HTC launching a quad-core handset at the event from late last year and it then went under the name, HTC Edge. This name was then changed to Endeavor and more recently renamed to HTC One X. All along, there has been just a single render of this handset floating around and this came out at the time this handset first came to light, when it was still known as the HTC Edge. As per a report by Pocketnow, they have received the first press shot of the HTC One X and along with it, there are some changes in the design.

The website states, “Having gone through an unusual pre-launch name change to Endeavor, it now looks like this flagship member of the One family may have earned that switch, apparently adopting a slightly sleeker look overall while also dropping one of the capacitive buttons.” The previous image of the handset featured the four capacitive touch buttons found on most Android handsets.

Here is a look at the rumoured specifications of the HTC One X:

  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC Sense 4.0 UI
  • 4.7-inch screen with an HD resolution
  • A little over 10mm thick
  • NVIDIA AP30 Tegra 3 1.5GHz quad-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8MP rear camera with f/2.2 lens and 720p video recording capabilities
  • 32GB internal memory
  • 21Mbps HSDPA
  • Bluetooth 4.0

As of now these are just the tentative specifications that had been leaked when the handset made its first appearance and this may all change come the date of the announcement.

The HTC One X is expected to launch alongside two other handsets called the HTC One S which went by the name Ville and the HTC One V. The brand may also debut a fourth handset which is the HTC One XL but there is next to no information on it besides its name. From the looks of it, it seems that HTC is going to have a good showing at this year’s event.

If you’ve used any of Samsung’s flagships in the past, you’ll be right at home with the new S4. We quite liked the handset during our brief encounter with it a few weeks back and after using it for about a week, we have come to like it even more.
