Press shot of LG Nexus 4 leaked ahead of official announcement

| by Aaron Almeida | Smartphones

Over the past few weeks there have been many leaks pertaining to the upcoming smartphone that will be co manufactured by LG and Google, the biggest one being the revelation by an LG executive in India. He stated that LG would release a handset that would be co-manufactured with Google in India by the end of November this year. @Evleaksa tipster on Twitter, has now posted an official press shot of the upcoming Googlephone.

From the image we can see the handset displaying the Navigation and Sports cards of Google Now on the handset. We can see the rear of the handset appears to have a dotted and crystallised finish, along with the Nexus branding along with the LG logo.

In an interview with IBNLive, Amit Gujral, Head of Mobile Product Planning at LG, at the Optimus Vu event stated that the upcoming handset from Google co-manufactured by LG will be unveiled on October 29, and will be launched in India by the end of November. Gujral also shed light on some of the specifications featuring in the upcoming smartphone. It will have a 4.7-inch display, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, and will run on Google’s upcoming mobile operating system, Android v4.2. Though he did not mention it, Android v4.2 is speculated to be branded Jelly Bean, and not Key Lime Pie, as believed earlier.

The details of the next Google smartphone have already being doing the rounds on the Internet. A recent post on Twitter had revealed in detail some of the highlighted features expected to be found on it. As per the earlier tweet, the tipster @Evleaks stated, “LG Nexus 4 (E960): Quad-core APQ8064 @1.5GHz, 4.7"@1280x768, 2GB/16GB(8GB), 8MP/1.3MP, JB MR1, 2100mAh, 9.1mm, 139g.”

This matches up with previous rumours about the smartphone featuring Qualcomm’s 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro with Adreno 320 GPU. The Nexus 4 is expected to come with 2GB of RAM, a 1280 x 768 True-High Definition IPS display, an 8-megapixel camera, and a non-removable battery. It will also have no microSD slot, and between 8GB and 16GB of internal storage.

The above statement concurs with recent leaks about the LG Nexus 4, codenamed E960 Mako. According to a recent report, a Belarusian website Onliner.by has got its hands on LG’s Nexus 4 smartphone, and has published a review of the device. Judging from the images of the device, it looks extremely similar to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. The major differences in the appearance of the phones are that the Nexus 4 doesn’t sport the same curved screen that is present on the Galaxy Nexus, and the presence of a chrome ring around the bezel. LG has opted for a flat back panel with a smooth and glossy design. The Nexus 4 also lacks the connectors for accessories that can be found on the Galaxy Nexus.

French newspaper Le Figaro revealed earlier this month that the LG Nexus 4 will be announced at the end of the month. The end of October promises to be an eventful time, as Microsoft is also gearing up to launch its Windows Phone 8 operating system. The report indicates the date of launch of the next Google Nexus phone in the US and France, but there is no word yet about its global availability yet.
