Report states Galaxy S III will not be very different from the S II

| by Aaron Almeida | Smartphones

There have been a lot of rumours in the recent past about the Samsung Galaxy S III and one of the hottest topics regarding the smartphone is with respect to its design. From numerous leaked images in the past, indications have pointed to a complete design overhaul and one of these rumours had suggested that the brand would ditch the home button as the latest version of Android does not require it. However, these reports had been rubbished by newer rumours thereby indicating that the much awaited smartphone will indeed feature the home button. However, the hopes of a design change are something potential consumers are certainly looking forward to but the latest report by CNET may disappoint those who are expecting this.

Finally!

Finally!

As per the exclusive report, a source from the UK telecom industry has stated that instead of going for a complete overhaul, the next flagship smartphone from Samsung would feature a minor update instead. The source has likened the change to Apple’s iPhone 4S when it was upgraded from the iPhone 4. The anonymous source has not revealed much regarding the smartphone when it comes to specifications but says that one should look at the HTC One X and know what to expect internally. The flagship quad-core smartphone from HTC is clocked at 1.5GHz and if it is compared to the One X, this would nullify the previous report that it would feature a 1.8GHz quad-core processor.

The name of the handset has also been brought into question with the source claiming that at the time of the announcement, it would not be called the S III but would be titled something different instead. In a related report by CNET, one of their authors reakons that Samsung may pull an Apple and launch the smartphone under the name ‘Next Galaxy.’

Another bit of information revealed by the source is that it will have a new feature implemented in it and the report states, “One extra feature my source discussed was the use of eye-tracking, which Samsung is apparently calling 'Human Interaction'. The phone's front-facing camera is able to detect when you're looking at the screen -- when you're writing a text for example -- and is able to lock when you look away.”

With the launch of the next Samsung flagship only a few days away, all this and more will become a lot clearer. To know all the rumours and speculations regarding the Galaxy S III, click here.
