Rumour: Foxconn producing 150,000 iPhone 5s a day

| by Aaron Almeida | Smartphones

If the last rumour about Apple launching the iPhone 5 by the first week of October was anything to go by, the next rumour may definitely hold some weight. According to a report by DigiTimes, Apple’s manufacturing partner Foxconn is said to be producing 150,000 iPhone 5s in a single day which means that their total per month could be around the 5 to 6 million mark. It seems Apple surely expects to sell this many iPhone’s by the year’s last quarter.

The report goes on to state that industry sources have revealed, “Lens maker Largan Precision, touch panel maker TPK Holding, reinforced glass supplier G-Tech Optoelectronics and battery vendors Simplo and Dynapack are all operating at full swing currently.” It was reported in August that Pegatron had been given part of the contract to assemble the upcoming iPhone. However, according to undisclosed sources of DigiTimes, they have revealed that Pegatron will not begin shipping until 2012.

It seems that with the increase in production of the iPhone 5, Apple may decrease production of the iPhone 4 during the end of the year. This is a common trend done by Apple when they launch a new handset. The same was done with the iPhone 3GS when the iPhone 4 was launched.
