Samsung confirms Premium Suite upgrade for original Note

| by tech2 News Staff | Smartphones

Some fresh news coming in from Samsung! The company has confirmed the Premium Suite upgrade for its original phablet – the Galaxy Note. On its global website, Samsung has bared it all about the newest upgrade to come. The Premium Suite upgrade to the Galaxy Note will bring it the Multi Window capability, allowing users to do multiple tasks on the same screen simultaneously without any screen transitions. Then there is Popup Note, which lets users jot down directions, phone numbers and other information while on a call. The Popup Note will open as soon as the user pulls out the S Pen or double taps the screen. Our favourite bit though is the Popup video and Browser that allows users to watch videos or browse the web while doing other things.

The Photo Note/Photo Frame feature on the Galaxy Note allows users to keep their memories safe using handwritten notes on the front and back of their photos. The Easy Clip feature lets you crop an image from any screen to save and share. All the users need to do is draw a line to select a text. Paper Artist lets you choose from a range of picture editing effects. Handwriting on S Planner/Email lets you send handwritten notes via Email. It also let you handwrite memos to yourself in S Planner. Samsung shares that the S Note has gotten better with more funny effects and new templates. There is the Sketch effect that can be used for various photo effect and image filters with Color Picker – this way users can pick any colour they want from any image and draw with it. Google Now on the Note will bring users all the information based on their search history, location and time automatically.  The best bit however is that the original phablet will be upgraded to Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).

The Note runs on a dual-core 1.4GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor and a Mali-400MP GPU with an Exynos chipset. Also, this ‘MiniTab’ bears a striking resemblance to the Dell Streak, which was a 5-incher as well and was launched way back in May 2010. The main USP of the Galaxy Note is its massive 5.3-inch screen and the advanced S-Pen interface is useful for taking notes on the go.

Some of the Note's specifications include:

  • 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED WXGA capacitive touchscreen with a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi
  • GPS with A-GPS support and Google Maps
  • Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, USB 2.0 HS
  • 8 megapixel camera with LED flash, 1080p video recording
  • Stereo FM radio with RDS
  • Memory expandable up to 32 GB via microSD card
  • 3.5 mm handsfree socket
