Samsung may unveil Samsung Galaxy S III in black

| by Aaron Almeida | Smartphones

Samsung's latest flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S III, has sold more than 10 million units just two months after the official unveiling, as per a statement by Shin Jong-Kyun, President of Telecoms and IT, Samsung. The handset has already received resounding success all across the globe, so what can a brand do to garner more attention than it already has? Samsung has the answer for this and it appears that the brand is preparing to launch the handset in a third colour option – black.

The Samsung Galaxy S III has been available to consumers in only two colour options: pebble blue and marble white. But according to Samsung’s official Facebook page, it appears that the S III may come in one more colour that the company has not yet announced.

With Samsung being an official sponsor of the London Olympics, the Korea-based company is in the process of some heavy marketing for the devices and features. In a post on Facebook, which is basically an advertisement for Samsung’s S-Beam feature, the brand has inadvertently previewed the black variant of the Samsung Galaxy S III. The official Facebook page has three images of the Samsung Galaxy S III dressed in black, so we may expect this version to be launched in the near future.

The Samsung Galaxy S III is a direct competitor to the upcoming iPhone, and having another colour under its belt will allow potential consumers to opt for this option if the blue and white options were not cool enough for them.

Here is a quick look at the highlighted features of the Samsung Galaxy S III

  • 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi with DLNA support
  • GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS
  • USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0
  • 8MP camera with AF, LED flash, BSI sensor and 1080p HD video recording
  • 1.9MP front facing camera with a resolution of 720p for video chat
  • 16/32/64GB Internal memory, expandable up to 64GB

Samsung has plans of introducing a 64 GB variety of the Galaxy S III handset later this year. Samsung revealed in a statement,  that "the 64 GB model of the Galaxy S III will be available during the second half of this year. The market availability and timing may vary and will be determined at the time of release”.

If you’ve used any of Samsung’s flagships in the past, you’ll be right at home with the new S4. We quite liked the handset during our brief encounter with it a few weeks back and after using it for about a week, we have come to like it even more.
