Samsung Officially Announces Gingerbread Update for Galaxy S, Ace and More

| by Ashish Koshy | Smartphones

Finally it looks like Samsung is finally responding to unanswered (and probably old) prayers. The Korean company has officially announced that they’re rolling out updates for the Galaxy S, Galaxy Ace, Galaxy Fit, Galaxy Mini and last but definitely not the least, the Galaxy Tab.

I'm going galaxies!

I'm going galaxies!

After a lot of confusion over Gingerbread updates for the Galaxy S, and an unofficially leaked ROM of the Galaxy Ace, just a few days back we got a hint of the Galaxy Tab getting an update later this month. With Samsung taking this as an official announcement, devices like the Galaxy S and the Tab can make full utilization of their high end specifications. Probably one of the biggest disappointments is that the tablet doesn't come with Honeycomb, but Gingerbread for now doesn’t look to bad either.

As always, Samsung claims that these updates will mean lower consumption of the CPU for multimedia content and support for 3D graphics. There’s some minor tweaks to the user interface, as well.

For now the best thing is that many Samsung users can finally heave a sigh of relief after getting these updates. Keep in mind that Gingerbread is available for the UK and other Nordic countries and will later on be available for the Middle East, Africa, South East Asia and other regions as well. So users in India, just a couple of more weeks and you can get your hands on some sweet Gingerbread.
