Technology A-listers Caught in a Patent Hassle

In what can be termed as one large-scale patent infringement suit, a certain Texas-based company called H-W Technology has filed a lawsuit against some A-listed companies like Apple, Google, Microsoft, Nokia, eBay, Motorola, Verizon, Expedia, Priceline and Hotels.com among several others, alleging them of infringing a single mobile patent. Patent Woes!
US patent number 7,525,955 is the one in question. This patent pertains to an Internet Protocol (IP) which provides for search and advertising capability. The phone with this patented software allows usage on various communication mediums like broadband, wireless communication, among others. The patent owned by H-W Technologies covers systems functioning on smartphones, as well as mediums that let users send and receives transactional messages back and forth without having to actually generate a call. |
