The Nexus S Makes it to India Officially

After being displayed at their recent Forum 2011 event in Delhi, Samsung has finally launched the much awaited Nexus S Android Smartphone into the Indian mobile space. Like HTC’s Nexus One, the Nexus S has also been developed in direct partnership with Google.

The handset is loaded up with Gingerbread aka Android version 2.3 and is the first handset from Samsung Mobile with a 4-inch Super clear Curved LCD screen. It also comes with Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. Powered by a 1 GHz, t the Nexus S also supports 3D graphics and HD video content. Other features also include high speed connectivity options, internet calling (VoIP/SIP) support. In addition, Nexus S features a gyroscope sensor to help provide a smoother and hopefully fluid gaming experience.

The Nexus S comes pre-installed with the best of Google apps, and Google Earth and, of course the option to turn it into a portable Wi-Fi hotspot.

Here’s a quick look at its specs -

 

  • 4-inch Super Clear LCD screen sporting a 480 x 800 pixel resolution
  • 3G, EDGE/GPRS, Wi-Fi with DLNA capabilities
  • GPS with A-GPS support
  • Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR with A2DP, USB 2.0
  • 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash
  • VGA front facing camera
  • 16GB inbuilt storage (no word on microSD support but most likely it will be absent)


The phone comes with a 1500mAH battery which the company claims will provide a talk time up to 6.7 hours on 3G (14 hours on 2G) and a standby time up to 17.8 days on 3G (29.7 days on 2G).

The Nexus S is priced at Rs. 29,590, and is already available in stores.
