Ulysse Nardin is a name synonymous with luxury and exquisite Swiss craftsmanship when it comes to watches. Following in the footsteps of fellow watchmaker Tag Heuer, Nardin has also gone the way of the mobile handset with this their second handset called the new Chairman. It’s an upgrade to a handset that they launched last year and is already out of stock according to some reports. This upgraded Chairman is as luxurious as the last and has incorporated Google’s Android OS to run its functions along with a Freescale i.MX processor. It also features - a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen (Sapphire crystal) with multi-touch 3G support, EDGE/GPRS Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB an 8 megapixel camera biometric fingerprint scanner for security 32GB of internal storage What really makes this handset stand out is the fact that it comes with a watch-like kinetic rotor system for passive recharging of the battery, just like your wrist watch. It’ll ship with Bluetooth stereo speakers and a fancy wood dock for charging and USB connectivity. The new Ulysse Nardin Chairman will be available in color variations based either on stainless steel or pink gold. Each of those will be made in a limited series of only 1846 units (the year Ulysse Nardin was founded). It’s available for preorder from the official website and the steel versions use stainless steel 316 L and 18 carat solid gold is used in the gold editions. The prices will vary depending on the version and availability but some reports estimate the handsets price to vary from $12 800 to $49 500 in the US and may be different in other countries. |
