Will Samsung finally unveil the S III on May 3 in London?

| by Roydon Cerejo | Smartphones

A few weeks back, we came across a leaked image of what appeared to be an invite for the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S III. The date mentioned back then was May 22 and the event was to be held in London. However, this didn’t seem very legit since first of all, it’s not like Samsung to reveal any part of their high-end phones before the actual announcement. Remember the teasers for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus? It just so happens that Samsung has indeed started sending out invites to media houses for the real event, which will take place in London itself, but on May 3.

Finally!

Finally!

All the invite says is ‘Come and meet the next Galaxy’ along with a couple of blobs of paint. This doesn’t really tell us anything and for all you know, Samsung could be referring to another phone altogether, however that does seem unlikely. The colours could indicate the actual colours for the new S III or perhaps a new type of material used to make the chassis. Your guess is as good as ours at this point. Samsung is not letting go of the suspense just yet which means they really must have a killer phone behind the curtains. While we wish for many new features for the S III, it’s still anyone’s guess what the phone will actually be like. Given the recent launch of the One X, we know that they will either have to match or exceed HTC’s offering, if it wants to compete. The one area where Samsung can do better is probably the camera department. We have a feeling they’ll go with a 12MP BSI sensor, which makes sense. Another feature we are longing to see is the new TouchWiz UI and if the leaked shots of the GT-I9300 are anything to go by, it appears Samsung will be sticking to the stock ICS look and feel as much as they can except for the custom icons. May 3 is not a very long way from now so let’s wait and see what happens.

 7.0

We’ve already established that the Lumia 720 is Nokia’s best effort as far as Windows Phone 8 handsets go. This could soon change once the Lumia 925 hits markets, but as it stands now, the Lumia 720 offers the best blend of features and performance, wrapped in a beautiful package that’s quite affordable.
