XOLO's new Q800 comes with a quad-core CPU for Rs 12,499

| by tech2 News Staff | Smartphones

XOLO today launched the Q800, its first quad-core Android smartphone. The device has a 4.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 960 x 640 pixels, and is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box and graphics are handled by a PowerVR SGX544 GPU. The XOLO Q800 is currently available for Rs 12,499.

The smartphone has an 8-megapixel BSI shooter on the back and a 1.2-megapixel one on the front. The rear camera can shoot 720p videos and supports various modes such as Auto, Normal, Night, Sunset, Party, Portrait, Landscape, Night portrait,Theatre, Beach, Snow, Steady Photo, Fireworks, Sports and Candle Light. The phone also has a dedicated camera key for quicker access to the camera.

It is the company's first quad-core smartphone

Here’s a quick look at the specs of the XOLO Q800 smartphone:

  • 4.5-inch, qHD IPS display with a resolution of 960x540 pixels
  • 3G, EDGE
  • Wi-Fi
  • GPS with A-GPS support
  • Bluetooth,
  • 8MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera
  • 4GB internal memory, expandable up to 32GB via microSD cards
  • MicroUSB support

The XOLO Q800 packs in the YAMAHA 168 PA music system, and includes most proprietary Google apps. It is fuelled by a 2100 mAh battery.

XOLO plans to launch a number of handsets with quad–core processors in the coming quarter and name this series 'QCORE'. Last month, some online retailers started selling the XOLO A1000, but the company soon announced that the phone was also available through official channels. The phone has an HD display and is manufactured using One Glass Solution (OGS) display technology, which reduces the girth of the phone.

The XOLO A1000 phablet has an expected shipping time of seven to eight days and is priced at Rs 13,999. At that price, one can also get the Micromax A116 Canvas HD, which was officially launched last month. Although the XOLO A1000 is priced decently, we think it should have been priced closer to Rs 10,000. At that range, these specs will be more than just a good deal.

Some specifications of the XOLO A1000 are:

  • 5-inch HD IPS display with a 1280 x 720 resolution at 295 PPI
  • Dual-SIM, 2G, 3G (HSDPA: 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA: 5.7 Mbps)
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot
  • Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP
  • GPS with A-GPS
  • 8-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, BSI sensor and HDR, 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera with BSI sensor
  • 4GB internal memory with microSD expansion slot support up to 32GB

 7.0

We’ve already established that the Lumia 720 is Nokia’s best effort as far as Windows Phone 8 handsets go. This could soon change once the Lumia 925 hits markets, but as it stands now, the Lumia 720 offers the best blend of features and performance, wrapped in a beautiful package that’s quite affordable.
