Sony Mobile has officially announced two new Xperia smartphones, the Xperia miro and the Xperia tipo. The Xperia miro is a slim and stylish smartphone available in a fun range of colours with deep Facebook integration throughout contacts, photo gallery and the music player, plus Sony’s xLOUD audio technology for crisp and loud sound. The miro was first officially announced via Sony’s Facebook page. The Xperia tipo is designed to be easy to use, enabling consumers to get the most from their smartphones – whether browsing the web, sharing pictures or downloading apps. The Xperia tipo will also be available in a Dual SIM version – Xperia tipo dual – so that consumers can switch between tariffs with a simple touch to stay on the most cost effective plan. Both smartphones will launch globally in calendar Q3 2012.

“Xperia miro and Xperia tipo are for consumers looking for entertainment experiences and functionality traditionally associated with high-end Android smartphones”, said Calum MacDougall, Director Xperia Marketing at Sony Mobile Communications. “Xperia miro is for those who want an integrated social media and a great music experience while Xperia tipo is for consumers who want to realise the benefits of a smartphone for the first time as they migrate from a feature phone.”
The Xperia miro comes with a 3.5-inch, scratch resistant display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. It is powered by an 800 MHz Qualcomm MSM7225A processor and launches with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich onboard. It has a 5 megapixel rear camera, along with video recording at 30 fps and a powerful battery, which according to Sony has greater than 24 hours of usage time. Other features, include DLNA, a front facing camera for video chat, a microSD card slot and 4GB of internal phone storage with up to 2.2GB user-accessible memory. The phone is available in black, black/pink, white and white/gold colours
The Xperia tipo comes with a 3.2-inch, scratch resistant display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. The phone is powered by an 800 MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7225AA processor and launches with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, as well. The phone has a 3.2 megapixel rear camera, a 1500 mAh battery, microSD card slot and 2.9GB of internal memory with 2.5GB accessible to the user. The phone is available in red, white, blue and black.
Pricing and availability for India hasn’t been announced yet, but we’re guessing these two will be super budget Androids. What price would you buy them at? |
