| by tech2 News Staff | Social Networking

Last month, Facebook had announced the start of the global rollout of its App Center. Now, news has it that all of its 955 million monthly active users across the globe can access the App Centre. Facebook has made the App Centre available to all its users. The Facebook App Center is Facebook’s own app store just as Google Play houses Android apps. App Centre is loaded with Facebook apps and also social apps that leverage Facebook. The App Centre includes web apps that you can access directly on your desktop. In case of mobile apps, Android or iOS users can click on the app, which will allow downloading it from Google Play or Apple App Store, respectively.

Welcoming the King

Facebook App Centre goes global

The news was first noticed when Facebook PR tweeted about it. The tweet read, “The Facebook App Center is now available to 100% of users worldwide. Your personalized & localized App Center here: facebook.com/appcenter”. The company has also put up a post on its Facebook page revealing the global availability of its App Centre. The post reads, “The App Center is now available to people worldwide! Discover new and fun apps you can enjoy with friends today at the App Centre”.

The Facebook App Center is completely social and also lets you view the apps your Facebook friends have installed and rated. The App Center is available on mobile via the Facebook app for iOS and Android, or by accessing Facebook.com on mobile. Soon after the global announcement last year, the Facebook App Center was finally available in India. The App Center makes it easy to find apps through friends, and gives apps another way to grow. Each person has a personalized experience in the App Center, with recommendations based on the apps they and their friends use, be it games, fashion, food, fitness, travel, or lifestyle. The apps are shown according to recommendations by users.

The App Center was launched in June with more than 600 social apps, including Nike+ Running, Ubisoft Ghost Recon Commander, Stitcher Radio, and Draw Something. Commenting on the App Center, Aaron Brady of Facebook said, “The App Center is designed to grow mobile apps that use Facebook – whether they’re on iOS, Android or the mobile web. From the mobile App Center, users can browse apps that are compatible with their device, and if a mobile app requires installation, they will be sent to download the app from the App Store or Google Play”.

Since the f8 Developer Conference held in 2011, more than 4,500 apps for Facebook’s timeline have been launched. Till May 2012, seven of the top 10 iOS apps and six of the top 10 Android apps have integrated with Facebook. The App Center has many popular apps such as Pinterest, Rotten Tomatoes, Soundcloud, and Instagram, along with many games.
