Google recently launched +snippets for users and publishers, allowing them to visit web pages and share content on Google+. Now, they want to go further with +snippets and have added the feature to Google Maps, thereby allowing users to share on Google Maps. What does this mean? Say you're planning a trip to Goa and you're driving. You might already have already looked up directions, hotel information and beaches to visit on Google Maps. What +snippets on Google Maps will let you do is share the content you look up on Google+. This way, you're sharing advice for fellow travelers. +snippets lets you share from Maps to Plus
To use +snippets in Google Maps, users need to hit "Share..." in the Google+ bar at the top of the screen. Like Maps, what is seen on the screen is what is shared. Clicking on "Share..." in the Google+ bar will allow users to see the snippet: "+Snippets on Google Maps: Directions, Places, Search Results". Google says they'll be rolling out +snippets to other services they provide. In the meanwhile, other publishers can also use and customize +snippets across the web. |
