Google Devises Service For Egyptians to Voice Tweet

01 Feb, 2011, 1:42 pm IST | by Padmini Harchandrai | Social Networking

Google's devised a service for Egyptian tweeters to call in their tweets via a landline. The country is still in their internet blackout and the protests aren't any weaker. Engineers from Twitter, Google and SayNow (a company Google acquired last week) have made three international numbers, +16504194196, +390662207294 and +97316199855, that anyone can call and tweet by leaving a voicemail. The voicemails will be converted into tweets instantly and will contain the hashtag #egypt. People can listen to these tweets by dialing the same phone numbers or read them online on twitter.com/speaktotweet

Now in Egypt via Google, Twitter and SayNow

Between bringing back relic technology and inspiring new tech, the Egyptian government has basically proven you can't stop people from expressing themselves. They've also proved that a government causes more unrest by taking away a basic need (yes, I'm calling the internet a need) and right, than by just going ahead with whatever corrupt plan they had in the first place without disconnecting a country.
