Robot will infuse smells into your Facebook comments and Tweets

| by Padmini Harchandrai | Social Networking

If you thought your eyes and ears were the only senses to be stimulated by social networking, a London and New York based company call Mint Foundry plans to blow your mind. The company has designed a prototype of a robot, named Olly, that will add smells to your tweets, Facebook posts and pictures, as well as Instagram posts. According to Mashable,  Olly would allow you to smell your significant other's perfume if they tweeted at you, or smell pop corn in your room if you're watching a movie. Click here to
see a video for Olly.

The robot comes with a white box which has space in the back to place any kind of scent that you want to. Scents could include fruit, perfume, or a drop of gin. Scents can also be grouped so each of your online accounts can have a different scent. This would involve downloading a special application, putting in your username and password into the Olly app and finally, having the Olly reader. The robot isn't available for mass sale yet. The company is looking for funding and partners to continue work on this project. What do you think the next sense involved in social networking should be? Taste? Touch? Some kind of extra sensory perception? Let us know in the comments section below.
