Sony PS3 Hacker Now Employed with Facebook

What first appeared as a rumor, is now official. Hacker, George Hotz aka Geohot who is most popular for his hacking of the Sony PlayStation 3 console, is presently employed with Facebook. According to a report by website ZDNet, a Facebook spokesperson confirmed to the site that Hotz was working with them.

George Hotz infamously rose to stardom when he was sued by Sony for breaking through the operating system on the PlayStation 3. According to a report, he shared his PS3 intrusions with others on the Internet who were looking to run their own software on the PS3 and run it like a standard computer. Hotz has also supposedly hacked into Apple’s iOS.

It is believed that Facebook have employed George Hotz to help them build an official Facebook app for the iPad. This employment would also further benefit the company against security exploits. Speaking about his current employment status with Facebook he said, “really an amazing place to work.”
