Twitter's all about pictures this week and today, they announced that they've improved their search function. Through the search function, when you look up a trending topic, they not only show you more relevant tweets, but also show photos and videos along with tweets. The photos and videos show up on the same results page as the tweets. If you use Twitter with Firefox, you can enter a #hashtag or @username in the address bar and you will be taken to a search results page for that item. Search and photos in a combo
Through the announcement, Twitter also snuck in the fact that they're releasing their own photo sharing feature over the next several weeks. You will be able to upload pictures from twitter.com itself as well as through its mobile applications. Twitter's partnered up with Photobucket to do the behind the scenes work. For users without smartphones, Twitter is working with mobile carriers to allow those users to send their pictures via text message (MMS). |
