A lot of people are on Twitter, not only to spew their own opinions on everything, but also to follow their favourite bands and brands for important updates. Twitter wants its users to know when the brands they follow make major announcements via the social network so they're placing those tweets at the top of the users' timelines. These Promoted Tweets will scroll through the timeline just like any other tweet, and will also appear only once. Promoted tweets can be removed from your timeline with a single click. Placing tweets on top
Twitter will be rolling out these tweets over the next few weeks with a select group of partners, including Best Western, Dell, Gatorade, Groupon, HBO, JetBlue, LivingSocial, Microsoft Xbox, Red Bull, Sephora, Starbucks, Summit Entertainment’s “50/50”, TNT and Virgin America. More will come soon. Charity and non-profit organizations such as Make-A-Wish Foundation, Room to Read, The American Red Cross and Water.org will also have special placement. |
