Kaspersky Lab IT Threat Evolution for the first quarter of 2011 has just named Adobe Reader as number one for PC threats. Along with the Adobe Acrobat Reader at number one slot, Adobe had four others in the PC vulnerabilities list with Adobe Flash Player taking second and third place as well as Adobe Shockwave Player taking two more.

As per the report by Kaspersky, these vulnerabilities on the list enabled cyber crime to control PCs from the system level. Adobe Acrobat Reader was discovered on 40.78 percent of the computers that were infected. The report says that this was more risky for the attackers because unlike home users, major corporations can and will retaliate. However, the stakes and thus the potential rewards involved with targeted attacks on corporations are higher and there are fewer competitors in this segment of the black market.

Microsoft on the other hand also featured in the list; however the findings this year indicate an improvement as they dominated the list last year. Microsoft Office featured at eighth position in the Kaspersky Q1 of 2011 PC Vulnerabilities List.
