27 Jun, 2011, 1:04 pm IST | by Rossi Fernandes | Software

Avast has been known for their security solutions and like many other security solution companies, they too are moving some of their resources into the mobile space. Avast is going to be launching an Android app sometime in the near future and it will be available for rooted phones. Avast, CTO, Ondrej Vlcek speaking with CNET about the upcoming product said that rooted phones were prone to attacks. The app would be released sometime later in the year and it would be completely free. Some of the features to be integrated in the product would be the antivirus component, parental control, phone tracking and an anti-theft feature.

One of the things being worked on is a VPN product for both mobiles and desktops. The VPN will allow users safe and secure access to different networks without any chance of getting hacked or data being stolen. He also talked about the product having the capability of IP spoofing which would let you access restricted websites. There are plans for implementing online backup solutions and password management. These features are likely to be launched in the later half of this year.
