The worries for Carrier IQ just don’t seem to end. It recently revealed a detailed report to clearly state what the company tracks and what it doesn’t. It also said that buggy software is the reason for the personal data logs. As per some government officials, the company is facing Federal inquiry as it has been probed over allegations of tracking users’ private data without their permission and sending it to phone makers, reports Washington Post.

Carrier IQ officials met officials of the Federal Trade Commission and also Federal Communications Commission. Some anonymous officials have confirmed the FTC inquiry, while Carrier IQ spokesperson states that the company executives will completely cooperate with federal agencies.

Carrier IQ maintains that the software isn’t designed to snoop on private data of its users and in some cases it may have happened, albeit accidentally. Carrier IQ had earlier stated that it tracks only certain key presses to track and improve the user experience. The Carrier IQ software was first disclosed by an Android developer, Trevor who also revealed a 17-minute video disclosing how the software tracks user data.
