Another one bites the dust! Autopatcher the well known install system that allowed users to update their buggy and as porous as sandpaper Windows OS with not only an entire comprehensive collection of Microsoft security patches but 3rd party tweaks, add-ons and registry fixes, has been shut down by the PTBs at Microsoft. This astonishing and rather frankly p----ing off move comes nearly 4 years after the project was started. In the 4 yrs of its existence, Autopatcher had become a cult favorite with not only system administrators but end-users too. This was because with its various builds it allowed power users to build their own custom Windows install disks with the latest patches, allowed system administrators to quickly lock down and secure PCs with no internet connections, easily update and roll out the monthly updates in a far more secure and customized manner. |
