VMware Releases View Client for iPad

VMware, the California based company which provides virtualization software for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux has recently announced a view client for the iPad. The VMware View for iPad provides a simple and secure way for users to access their virtual windows desktop, applications and data through their Apple iPads on the Local Area Network (LAN) or across a Wide Area Network (WAN)

The features of the VMware View Client for iPad are:

Modern Desktop Experience – It enables users to experience a windows experience on their iPads through a PC-over-IP (PCoIP) display protocol thus creating a highly responsive and flexible user experience.

Secure, Instant-on Windows Desktops – Users can use the VMware software on their iPads either through a Wi-Fi or 3G connection and can reconnect easily to a desktop of their choice by selecting from a list of recently connected desktops.

Intuitive, Multi-Touch Support – While using this software one can make full use of its custom gestures for quick and easy navigation through their virtual desktop. It also has an on screen trackpad enabling users to experience a conventional mouse interface.

Device and iOS Support – The VMware View client for iPad has the ability to support iOS 4.2 and the iOS 4.3. Another interesting feature of this software is that it can be used along with an iPad dock keyboards, Bluetooth keyboards as well as the capability to connect to a monitor through an iPad VGA connector.

The VMware View for iPad is available for free and can be downloaded from the Apple iTunes Store. Incidentally, it is also available for no charge for Android based tablets off the Android Market.
