I just read on Engadget that Pioneer has unveiled its latest set of speakers, the Sound Wing. These speakers are not like any ordinary speakers, as they have a new kind of technology called HVT, which stands for Horizontal-Vertical Transforming. Although the name may sound like it is contradicting itself, this technology is quite effective as it can be installed anywhere due to its size and thickness (or lack of it). The Sound Wing was originally announced at last year’s CEATEC (Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies), an annual trade show which is considered to be Japan’s equivalent of CES. A mix of beauty and brains
These speakers may look very frail and incapable of producing powerful sound, but in reality they’re capable of doing a lot. This speaker is capable of giving out omni-directional sound, which means the sound from it travels in all directions. The technology also allows the speaker to be super thin. HVT definitely seems like it is revolutionary and I actually can’t wait to hear what it sounds like. Of course, that’ll have to wait a while, as Pioneer is planning to let the public have these speakers only in June at the sum of approximately $507 (Rs. 22,637). This release, of course, will first be made in Japan, so there’s no saying when the Sound Wing will come to India. |
