ADATA announces S396 SSD in India

19 Dec, 2011, 10:43 am IST | by Roydon Cerejo | Storage

ADATA today introduced the S396 Solid State Drive (SSD), providing a much needed, cost-effective entry solution to what is often seen by consumers as a high-priced component market. The S396 utilizes optimized firmware, allowing for increased performance. The SSD runs 44K IOPS of 4KB random write and 280/250 MB/s of sequential read and write. The price for the drive hasn’t been announced, yet.

The S396 will be available in 30GB capacity, and utilize the SATA 3GB/sec interface. It's built using the conventional 2.5-inch form factor and should be reasonably priced, since it’s only 30GB. This does seem a bit less for a boot drive, but it should be ideal as a cache drive for Intel’s SRT technology. Users of ADATA SSDs should be able to download Norton Internet Security 2012 (60-day trial) for free as well. All ADATA SSDs are backed by a 3-year product warranty.
