A while ago, we told you about Gigabyte updating their motherboard BIOS’ so they could support hard drives of larger than 2.2TB. That update was only available for P67 motherboards at the time though, and with the release of a new Unlock Utility, Gigabyte has now extended that support to other motherboards as well and they’re not even done yet. ![]() Gigabyte likes it big
The Gigabyte 3TB+ Unlock Utility works by creating virtual hard-drives of up to 2048MB, which is the maximum some Operating Systems recognize as a storage drive. Both GUID and MBR are supported, but in the case of the latter, the user can only create a maximum of 8 virtual drives.
