Presenting three top choices of LCD TVs for the budget-conscious buyer
|
There are so many of them, aren’t there? LCDs screens are what I’m talking about, the ones that are used for TVs and PC monitors mainly. Each product is different from the other, even if it's the same brand. The model names contain letters such as ‘S’ series, ‘V’ series etc. and these actually say something about the quality of the LCD panels being constructed at their huge factories, which by the way are very few in number. What I mean is that there are only about 7-8 OEM manufacturers of the TFT (Thin Film Transistor) LCD panels that we see in our TVs these days. Nonetheless, LCDs have reached the 7th generation with panels as large as 108” being produced. Those are very expensive; the currently affordable ones, which cost under Rs.60,000 are the 32-inchers and some 37-inchers. The top brands today are Sony, Samsung, Sharp, Philips, LG and Toshiba. These are the top selling, and probably the best, though a lot of ‘Who’s That?’ brands are available, smalltime importers are trying their luck with brands like Kreisen etc. Frankly I haven’t reviewed them so they won’t be included in the current discussion – but definitely sometime in the future. One thing must be understood: the only models available under the 65K bracket are entry-level models. Exceptional, eyeball-dilating quality may not be there in any of these models, though that doesn’t mean they are bad. Each of these offer great value for money, that’s a set factor. |
