Transcend Launches mSATA and Half-Slim Solid State Drives

Almost a week back, Transcend seemed to have caught the Tron fever. Now they’re coming out with mSata and Half-Slim SSDs targeted at small devices like netbooks, tablets and mobile internet devices. The mSATA drives incorporate speeds of a SATA interface, transferring data at 3 Gb/s but is almost half the size in comparison to standard 2.5-inch SSDs. With dimensions of 29.85 mm x 50.8 mm x 3.5 mm, the mSATA SSDs are 1/8th the volume and 1/7th the weight of a 2.5-inch SSD. These mSATA drives will make storage easier in devices which have a small form-factor. Power your notebooks with these In comparison, the Half-Slim SSDs are a tad bigger with dimensions of 54 mm x 39 mm x 4 mm. These drives also use the SATA interface and are appropriate for Industrial Control Systems and notebooks that are designed to use 2.5-inch storage devices. The mSATA drives come in 32 GB and 64 GB variants while Half-Slim SSDs come in 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64 GB versions. While the 32 GB mSATA drive comes for Rs. 5,610, the 64 GB mSATA drive will retail at Rs. 10,340. The prices for the Half-Slim Drives are as follows: 4GB: Rs. 1,810 8GB: Rs. 1,950 16GB: Rs. 3,000 32GB: Rs. 5,500 64GB: Rs. 10,340 |
