Transcend launches new 2.5-inch Solid State Drives

Famous for their memory products, Transcend has now entered the SSD market with two new 2.5-inch drives with speeds up to 250MB/s. The SSD’s will be available in two capacities, 120GB and 250GB. Transcend has priced the 120GB model at Rs.19,758 which is inclusive of taxes.

The drives use a DRAM buffer which allows them to achieve read speeds of up to 230MB/s and write speeds up to 180MB/s. It also consumes lower power since there are no moving parts and is more durable as well. Here are some of the highlights of the new drive:

  • Faster OS boot-up and data access
  • Ultra-fast sequential read speeds of up to 250MB/s
  • Shock resistant and 50% lighter than standard hard drives
  • Easy to install in PCs and notebooks
  • RoHS compliant
  • Fully SATA II compatible
  • Support Trim command
  • Non-volatile Flash Memory for outstanding data retention
  • Built–in ECC (Error Correction Code) functionality and wear-leveling algorithm ensures highly reliable of data transfer
