CES 2011: iRobot Makes Your iPad Control a Robot

08 Jan, 2011, 10:15 am IST | by Padmini Harchandrai | Tablets

iRobot, through their program AVA have devised a system where you can connect your iPad to a robot, install applications to control the robot and lo and behold, your robot is at your beck and call (with the logical limitations of course). The program can also work on Android based tablets.

Hook your iPad up and make AVA fetch your beer

The robot has multiple sensors for 3D location awareness and builds a map of the location it's in. It even uses some of the sensors found in motion controlled gaming like the Kinect to build the map which you can see on the tablet attached to the robot. Simply touch any part of the map and the robot will go there. Some of the uses of this include security for the home and office, and of course, a personal butler bringing you food and drink.

To watch a demo of AVA, watch the video below.
