Taiwanese company MSI have launched a pair of tablets at CES 2011. The Windpad 100A and Windpad 100W will run on Android and Windows Operating Systems respectively. Both tablets boast of a few similar features like 10.1-inch touchscreens, Ambient Light Sensors and Wi-fi along with a Gravity Sensor for when its users drop the devices. However, apart from this the tablets are quite drastically different. Gone with the Wind? The Android tablet, Windpad 100A, is powered by an ARM processor weighs in at 1.6 pounds. It includes a digital compass and GPS functions, USB and HDMI ports and optional 3G. Its battery life is an estimated ten hours. The Windows tablet, Windpad 100W, on the other hand runs on Windows 7 Home Premium and is powered by an Intel processor. The tablet will also be fitted with a 32GB SSD. The Windpad 100W will be made available in the first quarter of this year, with prices starting from Rs. 22,500 ($499) onwards, but there’s no concrete pricing or launch schedule for the Windpad 100A. |

The Sony Xperia Tablet Z is the only new 10.1-inch Android tablet to launch this year. And with no one to contend against, it is commanding a substantial premium in the market. This is not any run-of-the-mill tablet, though. The care and polish delivered by Sony is simply brilliant as we’ll see in a bit.
