Amazon working on three new Kindle Fire tablets

| by Rossi Fernandes | Tablets

The domination of Apple’s iPad tablets has continued over the years and the recent new iPad is no different. Sales are doing good and there are few tablets that seem to have captivated others. If there’s one other tablet that’s come to the spotlight, it’s got to be Amazon’s Kindle Fire and we know there's a new one coming. The Android-based tablet doesn’t offer the same features and quality as the iPad but it is much more affordable. Now it appears Amazon is taking things one step further by launching some more tablets. There’s no official announcement of this, but the China Economic News Service has a story that there are three models on the way, each one of them for different price brackets. The three models include a 7-inch model like the standard Kindle Fire, which also supports a 1024x600 screen. There are no more details, but it’s likely that Amazon will either bump up the quality of the display or perhaps some of the hardware, such as the processor and storage.

The second one will be another 7-inch model that will support a slightly upgraded resolution of 1280x800, while the third and the most expensive model would be the 8.9-inch model that supports a full HD resolution of 1920x1200. This model offers a resolution that’s closest to the new iPad, which has a resolution of 2048x1536. The product of these new tablets is said to be distributed some Taiwanese companies and it should boost business for Quanta and Hon Hai who are ones responsible for assembly of these tablets. Manufacturing displays is handled by Prime View and Chimei. All these changes should also help reduce product costs it’s said as well as boost the quality of the tablets.

There’s no news on when the tablets are likely to be launched or what they’ll be priced at. Going by previous models, Amazon is likely to price the tablets at a much lower price than the iPad. A 8.9-inch Android tablet with a 1920x1200 priced under the new iPad could do wonders for Amazon, if the products of course are launched in the near future.
