Android-based Tablet AOC Breeze to cost $200

| by Sriram Gurunathan | Tablets

AOC are preparing themselves for the launch of their own tablet at CES, according to PCMag. Named the Breeze, the tablet will cost $200 (around Rs. 9000) and features an amazing specsheet that made the iPad and the upcoming high-end tablets run for cover.

Taking you down will be a Breeze

"In developing the Breeze Tablet, we were able to capitalize on our expertise in video displays and our strength in the computer industry to create a device that matches our 60-year reputation of providing quality and user-friendly products at a great value," said Robert Velez, Marketing Manager of AOC, in a statement.

Quality indeed. The AOC Breeze features an 8-inch screen that runs at a resolution of 800x600, a 600MHz Arm9 processor, Wi-fi support and 4 whole GBs of internal storage. To top it off, the Operating System the Breeze will be running is Android… 2.1 Eclair. Yes, stop getting all hyped up for Honeycomb, an Eclair-boasting tablet is here!

In all seriousness though, even though the specs are nowhere near the best, the price point ensures that you get your value for money. In terms of “you get what you paid for”, that is. Regardless, if the Breeze can perform well even with its limitations, it’s bound to be a success because of that very same price point. In a world where Tablets are still being seen as very expensive toys, this will definitely garner some attention.

We’re eagerly waiting for CES to figure out if this tablet has what it takes.
