We told you a couple of days ago about Apple finally releasing the iPad in India on January 28. Well, today is January 28 and right on cue, the iPad has indeed been released. The 16GB Wi-Fi only iPad costs Rs. 27,990 and the 16GB 3G + Wi-Fi models will cost you Rs. 34,900. The iPad is also available in 32GB and 64GB capacities for both the Wi-Fi and 3G + Wi-Fi variants, though they will obviously cost you more, as is the case with the 64GB 3G + Wi-Fi iPad which costs a cool Rs. 44,900. Better late than never State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has been the first to come out with dedicated data plans for the iPad. There are various limited and unlimited plans, including a Rs. 599 plan which will give you a 6GB data transfer limit for a month. If you cross the 6GB limit, you will be charged 1p for every additional 10kb that you download. The unlimited data plan for both postpaid and prepaid will cost you Rs. 999 and a single-day unlimited usage plan can also be availed of for Rs. 99. Obviously, other operators that have micro-SIM operations are also gearing up to unveil data plans for the iPad, but it hasn't happened yet. We'll just have to wait it out and see what happens. |
