Apple unlikely to host an iPad 3 event in February

03 Feb, 2012, 9:13 am IST | by Aaron Almeida | Tablets

Rumours of Apple’s upcoming iPad have been around for quite some time now and many analysts and reports state that it will be officially unveiled during the first quarter of 2012. However, the exact month of the launch has always been speculated upon. A few weeks back it was reported that Apple would hold a ‘Special’ event in early February and all indications pointed to the unveiling of the next generation of Apple’s tablet. With the announcement supposedly being scheduled in February, the next iPad was rumoured to hit shelves by March. However, as per a report by Macotakara, instead of a special event, sources have informed them that the Cupertino brand will hold a ‘Strange’ event instead that was supposedly scheduled for this month.

It's time to start sizing up the next iPad

Apple iPad 3 event may not take place this month

The report states, “Apple was going to hold Special Event in early February according to Asian supplier and source from the United States, but this report told a half-side of truth. Apple will hold "Strange" event at February instead of Special Event.” However, according to well informed author regarding Apple related news, Jim Dalrymple of The Loop states, “A number of news outlets picked up on a rumor from a Japanese blog this morning saying that Apple would hold an “unusual” event in February. This is not going to happen, according to my sources. Apple will not hold an event in February, unusual or otherwise. That’s it.”

From this recent report, the time frame for the Apple iPad 3 announcement becomes hazy once more and since Dalyrymple has a good track record where Apple related information is concerned, one should expect no event from the brand to take place this month, strange or otherwise. Though there may be no news about a launch date as of now, rumours have given us a glimpse of what the iPad 3 may feature. These include a quad-core Apple A6 processor as well as LTE capabilities.
