With tablets gaining popularity in India, the Bharti owned Beetel group, is set out to launch their own touch screen Android tablet in August. Android 2.2 (FroYo) is likely to be used but the price of the 3G-enabled tablet is currently unknown. This 7-inch Android tablet will have two cameras, one in the front for video calling and the other at the back. MSN news reports that Rahul Mahajan, the head of Beetel Teletech, stated that the tablet will be the next big thing in the Indian market. He also stated that the tablet would be comparitively competitive with regard to pricing to other tablets as well. Coming This August
The launch of this tablet was announced at a press conference held by Beetel. They also introduced 218 new phones. Beetel already has 16 new models out in the market, and with the introduction of this Android tablet, Beetel will strive to hold its position in the mobile industry. Currently, tablets in India are expensive and therefore, not easily within the reach of all. If Bharti decides to launch a tablet with decent hardware for under Rs. 10,000, it's likely to be very popular and it should provide the necessary boost to make tablets mainstream in India. |
