Byond launches Mi-Book Mi5, Mi9 ICS tablets

Byond Tech has launched two tablets – the Mi-Book Mi5 and the Mi-Book Mi9. These tablets will be available across India and online stores.


The core feature of Byond Mi-Book Mi5 is its calling facility. It has Bluetooth connectivity, 3G connectivity, and Wi-Fi. It has an A10 1.2GHz processor and 512MB RAM, with Android v4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS. You can store files with the 8GB in-built memory and 32GB expandable memory.

The Byond Mi-Book Mi9 has a 9-inch capacitive touchscreen. The tablet is powered by a 1.2GHz Cortex-A8 processor and 512MB DDR3 RAM, with ICS v4.0.4. The tablet features a 9-inch TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 800x480 pixels. Powered by a 6,000mAh battery, the tablet has fours hours of Internet browsing and six hours of video playback. The tablet supports full HD playback. An inbuilt memory of 8GB, expandable up to 32GB allows you to store a lot of data. It comes with a USB port and 3.5mm headphone jack. The tablet also comes with business features including email, document reader and editor, PDF Reader, MS Office Suite, and Quick Office.

Back in October, Byond had announced the Mi books range of tablets powered by Ice Cream Sandwich. The Mi book series of tablets will of tablets with a 7-inch screen, tablets with the option card, tablets with 9-inch screens, tablets with 10-inch screens, and a ‘Laplet’ series that will be consist of a tablet along with a portable attached keyboard. Some of the key features of the Mi book series of tablets include Android v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), capability for 3D gaming and high-definition video, kinetic scrolling touchpad, 5-point multi-touch screen, and a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.

Prashant Bora, CEO, Byond Tech Electronics, said, “We have brought to India, the biggest range of tablets, under one brand, with 10 versions of “MI Book” as we call it, with retail range starting from 4,300 to 11,000 all MI Books come with 3D Screens. The product our research team was most excited about was the “Laplet”, which would prove to be the biggest gift for the consumers in this Navratra Season”.

According to Subhash Mutha, Chairman of Byond Tech Electronics, “For tablets and smart phones, we have invested around 10 million USD and the investment is likely to get doubled within a year. With last 3.5 years of experience in telecom business, we are planning to be a aggressive player in Android phones and Tablet PC segment”.
