Panasonic’s new Android powered VIERA Tablet also made it to CES 2011, at least the prototypes did. Of course, it was lost in the pile of tablets that were showcased at this year’s big event. The company has designed this device to essentially enable easy access to a variety of cloud services in conjunction with its VIERA digital televisions. The VIERA Tablet, which will be put in the global market within this year, marks Panasonic’s first step toward cloud-based services including video streaming and e-books. The VIERA Tablet is more of a touchscreen-like terminal though. It could provide creative functions and easy operation in conjunction with VIERA digital televisions so they can deliver new value that cannot be offered through Internet televisions alone. The tablet’s display can also work as a sub-screen for displaying images and information related to the images shown on your connected television. It’ll be available in various models with different screen sizes, ranging from 4 to 10 inches to offer the optimum GUI with visibility and operability suitable for various services and content. What makes these devices even more enticing is that Panasonic, known for their hardcore notebooks namely the Toughbook, has designed this tablet device to also be shock resistant. The company’s corresponding cloud service business is in the developmental stages, so it’s quite possible we’ll see the tablets roll out the same time the services do. |
