CES 2012: BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 to be officially unveiled

06 Jan, 2012, 9:55 am IST | by Aaron Almeida | Tablets

In October, Research in Motion had announced that the software upgrade for the BlackBerry PlayBook had been delayed to February 2012. The reason for the delay, they cited, was that they had to be fully confident to meet the expectations of their developers, enterprise customers and end users. As per a report by Engadget, it appears that Reasearch in Motion has announced that the software update for the tablet, which is PlayBook OS 2.0 will be officially unveiled at CES 2012.

Finally we will see the new OS

The report states that BlackBerry will be holding an intimate event on the 10th of January, 2012, and the major talking points would be regarding the PlayBook OS 2.0 as well as the BlackBerry OS 7.0. No other snippets are available regarding these announcements, but we really hope that they have something worthwhile to offer with the PlayBook’s OS update.

Though BlackBerry has generated sales in the recent past with the massive price drop, the OS is the only limiting factor of the product. We hope that they address this situation and have a sizeable amount of apps on offer from their app store. Stay tuned for more information about the update announcement that is set to take place in the next few days.
