CES 2012: Lenovo unveils the IdeaTab S2 10, takes a cue from Asus

Along with its ICS-based television, Lenovo has pulled the wraps off its newest tablet, the IdeaTab S2 10 and going by the press image sent out, we can’t help, but think they were inspired by Asus for this creation. This 10-inch, Ice Cream Sandwich running tablet is thinner than its predecessors at just one-third of an inch in thickness and weighs 0.98kg. It will pack in a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8960 processor, so we’re hoping it will be cheap, unlike the other quad-core beasts.

The most striking feature, however has got to be the detachable keyboard, which transforms it into a notebook, just like the Asus Transformer and Transformer Prime. Lenovo will be using their own ‘Mondrian’ user interface, which would be interesting to see how this compares to TouchWiz or Sense. It will also feature Lenovo’s own app store and is said to boast of a massive 20-hr battery life. The only way this is possible is if the dock also has a built-in battery that powers the tablet, unless of course, Android 4.0 is that well optimized. There’s no word on the pricing or if the dock will be sold along with the tablet, we guess we’ll know more on that, soon enough.
