Towards the end of the past month, images and details of the next Sony tablet had surfaced. However, the images were obtained from slides and were not of the best quality. A report by Unwired View has obtained images from XDA forums where some great images of the upcoming tablet have been posted.

From the images we can see that the upcoming tablet features the folded magazine design and the back features a textured design suitable for easily gripping the tablet. The Sony Xperia Tablet features a Tegra 3 processor, comes with storage capacities of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB, and runs on Android v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or higher. Apart from this, the device supports 3G connectivity and a carries a 6000mAh battery, which Sony states will be capable of lasting 10 hours while browsing the Internet using Wi-Fi. This tablet measures 8.8 mm at its thinnest and Sony claims that the slim, splash-proof body allows the tablet to look and work great. As for the weight of the tablet, the Sony Xperia Tablet is believed to weigh 570 grams.

There are a few more features unearthed as well with the tablet supposedly featuring an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 1 megapixel front-facing camera for video calls. The screen found here is believed to measure 9.4 inches and has a resolution of 1280 x 800.

The report by Unwired View goes on to state, “It’s said that the Sony Xperia Tablet will run Android 4.0 ICS “or later” at launch, so we can certainly hope for some Jelly Bean.”

Although nothing about the pricing is set in stone, the 16GB model is priced at $399.99 (Rs. 22,005 approx), the 32GB variant costs $499.99, and the 64GB version is expected to be sold for $599.99. There are also various accessories that go with the tablet. There is a cover without a keyboard that will be available for $59.99; a premium cover that will come in multiple colours, costing $79.99; a stand for docking the tablet will be selling for $99.99; a simple stand will cost $24.99, and a dock speaker that will be sold for $119.99.

The only information left to be revealed is the date of the release of the tablet. As Sony launched their tablet in the past year in the third quarter, we can expect them to release it at around the same time this year. The post on XDA states that it will be released in September. However, there is no official word about the release date.

More details will be known closer to the date of launch. Let us know your thoughts on the upcoming tablet from Sony in your comments.
