As per a report by Laptopmag, the website states, “Viewsonic showed off the VCD22 Android Smart Display, a 22-inch, full HD screen that runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with a dual-core, 1-GHz  TI OMAP 4428 CPU.”

As one can expect, this monitor tablet is not your everyday tablet and it loses the essence of being the said device, due to its large form factor. This is basically an Android all-in-one PC, except for the fact that it comes without peripherals like a keyboard and mouse. This Android running monitor tablet boasts of having a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and features a capacitive touchscreen that supports two-point touch. The website states, “Packed with plenty of ports, the device also has Ethernet, 3.5mm, HDMI and SD card slots. If you’re far from the router 802.11n Wi-Fi can connect you to the Internet while Bluetooth 2.1 helps you connect a headset. A 1.2-MP front-facing cam allows for video chats.”

Here is a quick look at some of the highlighted features of the ViewSonic VCD22:

  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • 22-inch capacitive display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080
  • 1-GHz  TI OMAP 4428 CPU
  • 1GB RAM
  • 1.2-MP front-facing camera for video chat
  • WI-Fi 802.11n
  • Ethernet, HDMI and SD card slots
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • 3.5mm audio jack

As for the target audience, ViewSonic have intended the tablet monitor at a wide spectrum, ranging from families to be used as a PC or an Internet appliance for children. Alternatively, ViewSonic also aims to sell this tablet to be used in classrooms in schools for running a variety of educational applications. Another possible target for the brand is in the retail sector where it can be used in stores and be used as a kiosk to help customers.

This tablet will be available by the second half of the year and will sell for $479, which translates to roughly Rs. 26,647.
