A report in Times of India confirmed that the Taiwan-based, Foxconn will begin producing iPads in Brazil, beginning from December. Foxconn, however, according to reports is still in talks over a multibillion-dollar expansion deal in Brazil, owing to the slightly tricky investment conditions there. But, if the quotes from both - the Foxconn Chairman, Terry Gou and Brazil's Science and Technology minister are to be believed then Foxconn will start off with assembling iPads locally, from December at the Jundiai plant in Sao Paulo state, it is learnt.
Foxconn, now in Brazil, too
The deal, which is under negotiation also included talks on setting up two new factories to be used for assembling touchscreens, as well as fresh Foxconn investments. The report further stated that as many as six Brazilian state governments were in the race to convince Foxconn to set up their factories. However, issues such as airport locations, among other parameters ended up being the deciding factors. |
