Remember seeing the MediaPad a long time back? Now Chinese company Huawei has officially announced it at CommunicAsia in Singapore. Obviously now that it has been officially announced, we have more than just a picture. Also, the specifications of this tablet look pretty decent. Let’s take a quick look at what the MediaPad has to offer.

The MediaPad runs on Android 3.2. Yes, that’s a new one there, but from what Huawei says Android 3.2 is similar to 3., however, it is meant specifically for the 7-inch tablets. The tablet also has a dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm processor and boasts of the following specifications:

  • 7-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen
  • HSPA+ 14.4 Mbps, Wi-Fi 11n
  • 5 megapixel camera with autofocus
  • 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera
  • HDMI port
  • 8GB internal storage with MicroSD slot

The camera is capable of recording videos in HD. Speaking of which, the MediaPad can also play videos at 1080p full HD resolution. The Flash 10.3 player comes pre-loaded, so surfing the web shouldn’t be much of a problem. The tablet also comes pre-loaded with apps like Facebook, Twitter, Let's Golf and Documents To Go.

From what sources have to say, the MediaPad will be shipping from the third quarter of this year and India will be among the first countries to get it. There’s no official announcement on the price, but it’s also being said that the MediaPad will come with a price tag of Rs. 25,000.
