The next time you see a parliament in session, and spot the MPs go their way through the sessions making quick notes on their iPad, don’t be taken in by surprise. According to a special budget kept aside, MPs are being encouraged to resort to better technology to go about with their business – taking down notes while the parliament is in session. To replace paperwork..
The initiative was taken largely to curb paperwork that has almost become synonymous with the bureaucracy in India. According to a report in the Times of India, MPs were being familiarised with the technology, especially with the apps available specifically for their use, by the way of orientation sessions. The report further adds that every MP in the house has been re-imbursed Rs. 50,000, roughly a $1,000 to 'invest' in the technology, which include Apple iPads and Samsung Galaxy Tabs. |
