In a goodwill gesture towards its buyers inconvenienced by the delay in launch of the Mercury mTab Rio 9.7-inch tablet, Kobian will be offering a leather case worth Rs. 699 for free with the tablet. In an official statement, the company details that although the Mercury mTab Rio 9.7-inch model was to be launched in September 2012, the company found a minor problem with dongle connectivity in the pre-release tests, leading to the company deciding to hold back the entire launch, fix the problem and then launch it. The leather case offer, hence, came about as a goodwill gesture for the delay in the launch. Going further, the company elaborates that the Mercury mTab Rio 9.7-inch Wi-Fi model is getting stabilised and claims that the product works with most of the dongles in the market.
A total Wi-Fi solution is not a workable model in India, adds the statement further, “people do need the support of a 3G dongle for proper Internet and mobility experience. And Mercury is ascertaining the same before shipment."
"Yes, there is a problem with the delivery schedule of mTab Rio 9.7 inch tablet," said Sushmita Das, Country Manager - India at Kobian.
"All our tablets have been runaway success, and they have been so largely due to the quality we have been consistently delivering at most cost effective prices. This time too there was no reason to launch a product that would not work with certain 3G connections. Since we are late due by couple of weeks, as a special gesture we decided we will offer the tablet's leather case free to our customers who were looking forward to the launch eagerly." added Sushmita.
Mercury ropes in the latest IPS panel and offers a large 9.7-inch display. The mTab Rio has been priced at 11,999. The new mTab Rio runs on Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich. The IPS panel helps to offer a consistent and accurate colour from all viewing angles in contrast to the traditional LCD screens that display partial true colour. It provides a quick and homogeneous response time and the optimal structure to process a large number of high speed signals without data loss. The 9.7-inch wide IPS display also promises to power the user with a vivid and clear picture, a stable response time of liquid crystal and its smart driving technology.
The tablet is fuelled by a 1.2GHz processor and 1GB of DDR3 RAM. The tablet supports Wi-Fi and offers a battery backup of about 6-8 hours for continuous entertainment. The tablet tips the scale at 480 grams and users can choose from two storage options – 8GB and 16GB. The storage can be further expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card slot. This tablet is Wi-Fi enabled and supports Adobe Flash 11. It also has a built-in 2.0 megapixel camera and a 300k front camera that allows one to not only capture the memorable moments, but also indulge in video conference. On the connectivity front, it supports 3G through USB interface and offers a high HDMI output too. |
