It's Monday folks and it's time for Microsoft’s upcoming, secret event. With chances of a new tablet by Microsoft extremely high, reports are flooding in with news that the new device will be a Barnes and Noble tablet. The Verge reports that Andy Lees of Microsoft was part of a top secret partnership and development at the company and on April 30, Microsoft had announced a strategic partnership with Barnes and Noble, which means that a Microsoft Reader is high on the charts. They further go on to say that, “Lees' involvement in the secret KIN hardware makes him a prime candidate for a fresh skunkworks project at Microsoft, and the links to the Barnes & Noble deal referencing Windows Phone cannot be ignored. A number of Windows Phone enthusiast sites discovered visits from devices with unusual resolutions running Windows Phone 8 back in April. While this doesn't confirm Windows Phone's involvement in a potential Microsoft Reader tablet, it does suggest the company is preparing to support different form factors with its mobile operating system. The timing of Microsoft's event on Monday is also significant, scheduled just two days before a Windows Phone 8 summit."
We had earler carried an interesting story about Microsoft investing $605 million in Barnes and Noble and that piece of news may have an interesting role to play in today's announcement.

For those not in the know, here’s a quick recap. Microsoft has been sending invites to a super secret event this Monday, June 18 at 3:30pm in Los Angeles, where the company has planned for a ‘major’ announcement. No other details about the nature of the event had been disclosed. Microsoft has chosen to keep quiet on this particular topic and they haven’t responded to any replies or requests for comments. However, if this piece of information is indeed true, then we could have a new Microsoft Barnes and Noble tablet. Will it be called the Microsoft Reader? We’ll have to wait and watch.
Now for the important question, will you be as excited for a Barnes and Noble Microsoft tablet? Or will Microsoft dash your expectations, if this indeed is the new announcement. Let us know your thoughts and more in the comments section below. |
